Introduction to Bilt Rent Day

Bilt Rewards is a unique program that lets you earn points for paying rent with a credit card without oppressive service charges.

Overview of Bilt Rent Day

It's a revolutionary thought: Rent is by far the largest monthly expense for most Americans. Rewards earned through Bilt can be used to offset rent costs, or converted into valuable airline miles and hotel points to help you knock off bucket-list travel that might otherwise be unattainable.

The Bilt app integrates with award booking service Point.me to make booking travel with points as easy as possible.

What is Bilt Rent Day?

Bilt Rent Day is an ongoing promotion that occurs on the first day of each month, with different activities that allow you to earn bonus points, get exclusive transfer bonuses to valuable airline and hotel partners, receive big discounts on cruises, and more.

The Bilt Mastercard® is the first credit card to offer up to 100,000 points in a calendar year rewards for paying rent without the transaction fee — and you can redeem your points for travel, merchandise, and more. While it now offers bonus points on dining and select travel, if you're not a renter, you should consider other no-annual-fee rewards credit cards as well.

Neighborhood Dining with Bilt: Rent Day edition

Each month, Bilt drops all-inclusive reservations at top Bilt Neighborhood Dining restaurants exclusively for Bilt members, featuring curated tasting menus with dishes from renowned chefs and a selection of premium cocktails.

This August, Bilt members can try 27 different restaurants across 12 cities by booking seats for themselves and up to 4 guests. Reservations begin at $75 or 6,000 Bilt points per person. Bilt members can reserve dining spots in the following order beginning July 29:

Monthly Bilt promotions

Bilt reveals unique offerings each month, but some promotions (nearly) always stay the same.

Earn double Bilt Points on non-rent purchases

On the first day of each month, the Bilt Mastercard® earns twice its normal rate for non-rent purchases. Here's what you'll earn:

Your earnings will revert back to the standard rate after you've earned 10,000 points across all spending categories each Rent Day.

When using Bilt Dining, you'll earn 5 bonus points per dollar at select restaurants. This stacks with the 3 points per dollar you'll normally earn when using the Bilt Mastercard® for dining. During Rent Day, this 5x bonus will not be additionally bonused.

One important note: You must use your Bilt Mastercard® at least five times per statement period to be eligible to earn points.

Complimentary SoulCycle Ride

Bilt offers complimentary rides to the first 10 members per class who book directly in the Bilt App in 50+ SoulCycle locations nationwide. Those who don't sign up in time to grab one of the 10 spots can still book a ride through the fitness tab in the Bilt app using either points or regular payment.

This month, complimentary Soulcycle slots for Rent Day open up July 30 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern.

When you book a Rent Day Ride, you'll automatically be entered to win free rent for a month (up to $2,500). One rider per Rent Day Ride will win, so there's a higher chance of scoring free rent if you exercise with Bilt on the first of each month.

Riders who can no longer participate must cancel their reservations via the Bilt app before 5 p.m. local time on July 31, on the app's Fitness tab under "My Bookings." Late attendees and no-shows may be charged a $30 fee.

Play the Rent Free game for a chance to have your rent paid

Bilt offers a Family Feud-style game called Rent Free, with a different celebrity guest each month. Participants guess their best answers to questions Bilt presents to a panel of 1,000 members each month, trying to identify the most popular answers.

Rent Free has new and improved rules for winning points and free rent. Game show participants will be scored on their guesses, calculated from three factors:

The top-scoring 10 Rent Free participants will earn a free month of rent in August, up to $2,500 apiece. If two top participants tie with the exact same score, the win will go to the Bilt Member who completed the game first. The next top-scoring 600 participants will earn bonus Bilt Points.

Bilt members can play Rent Free from July 26 until 3:00 p.m. Eastern time on August 1. After 4 p.m. that day, you can return to the Bilt app to watch the full episode and see your score. The top 10 scoring players will be August's rent winners, and the next top scoring 600 members will nab some extra Bilt Points.

Rent Free is available in the Bilt app now featuring this month's celebrity guest: Jared Freid.

How Bilt Rent Day works

Bilt Rewards aims to make paying rent — typically on the first day of each month — just a little bit more fun.

Bilt Rent Day falls on the first of every month, and Bilt members who fire up the Bilt Rewards app can book complimentary SoulCycle classes, earn extra points by playing trivia games, and participate in various promotions with exciting rewards such as a free month's worth of rent.

Earning rewards on rent payments

Bilt Rent Day is part of the Bilt Mastercard® incentives program, which helps renters earn rewards on rent payments. Most credit cards charge a fee for paying rent by credit card, and many landlords refuse to accept rent payments by card because of the high fees associated with processing credit card transactions.

The Bilt Mastercard® absorbs those fees, and throws in generous rewards to boot: Renters earn Earn 3x points on dining. Earn 2x points on travel (when booked directly with an airline, hotel, car rental or cruise company). Earn 1x points on rent payments (up to $100,000 each year). Earn even more on Rent Day with 6X on dining, 4X on travel, and 2X on other purchases (except rent). Earn points when you make 5 transactions that post each statement period..

Special promotions and bonus points

Bilt Mastercard® cardholders regularly get opportunities to earn bonus points. Cardholders earn 3x on dining and 2x on travel at all times, plus 1x on everything else.

On Bilt Rent Day, all rewards are doubled except on rent payments: Restaurant dining now earns 6 points per dollar, travel earns 4 points per dollar, and regular spending outside of rent earns 2 points per dollar.

Bilt Dining

The Bilt Dining program allows everyone — even non-Bilt card members — to earn bonus points on eating out. Participating restaurants in dozens of cities offer bonus points for every dollar spent at that location.

Anyone who links a credit card into the Bilt Rewards app can earn these bonus points — this way, you can "double-dip" rewards if you prefer to pay for restaurant spend on the American Express® Gold Card, which earns generous rewards on dining.

Participating in Bilt Rent Day

You can participate in Bilt Rent Day even if you don't pay rent. Here's how:

Eligibility and signup process

You'll need a Bilt Rewards account to participate in Bilt Rent Day activities. Sign up at Bilt Rewards, and link your Bilt Mastercard® to the account if you have one. Then download the Bilt Rewards app onto your mobile device to participate.

Every month, bonus activities will be announced a few days ahead of time, so keep an eye out for free fitness class sign-ups or other time-sensitive activities. Then on the first of the month, log back in to look for restaurants offering elevated dining rewards, play games to earn extra Bilt points, and more.

Making rent payments through Bilt

Rent payments also take place within the Bilt Rewards app. Click on the "pay rent" button toward the bottom of the app, and follow the instructions on the screen. There are two options: "Pay rent online" or "pay by check".

It's easiest to pay rent via the Bilt Mastercard®, since it doesn't charge transaction fees.

Pay rent online

If your building allows online rent payments, use the virtual routing number and account number provided within the app to send your transaction just like you would set up an online draft through your bank account.

Pay by check

If your landlord doesn't allow online payments, you can request a rent check via the Bilt app. Complete the setup process by sharing your landlord's contact and payment information, and your rent check will automatically be disbursed on your behalf each month. You may need to finesse the timing of your payments to ensure that your rent checks arrive on the required date each month to avoid late fees.

Maximizing your rewards

Strategies for increasing points on Bilt Rent Day

Bilt Rent Day promotions change each month, but these best practices can help you make the most of each bonus opportunity.

Dine out on Bilt Rent Day

You can earn up to 16x on Bilt Rent Day if you max out every possible opportunity. Some cities have dining partners that offer up to 10x, while cardholders earn 6x on dining on Bilt Rent Day.

Best practices for redeeming Bilt points

The rewards earned from Bilt Rent Day can be substantial if you max out every opportunity. Bilt Points are most valuable when transferred to airline partners. Our guide to Bilt Points and their worth can help you strategize the best travel opportunities and redemption rewards.

Home ownership credits

Renters interested in owning their own homes someday can benefit from Bilt Rewards as well.
